I admit that I read this story at one of my favorite sites called DIGG but it was a hilarious story for so many reasons, and also a great “back to school” type of story.

Apparently you can build functioning furniture out of FedEx™ shipping boxes (no kidding, here is the link to the web site). What is even funnier is that FedEx™™ is not happy about this web site and is trying to shut it down! (read here if you don’t believe me).

This is amazing to me, since when I went to school the “frugal” furniture was made out of Beer Cases. I couldn’t find any examples on line, but it was quite simple. You kept stacking up your empty cases of 24 beer bottles, and put your mattress on top of it. By the end of the term you had a very tall bed (which might be dangerous if you drink a lot of beer), BUT, and here is the great financial angle, with the EMPTIES DEPOSIT you have enough money to buy a bus ticket to go back home!!!! Is that not an amazingly frugal and fun way to save money?

Oh and another good use for beer is this interesting discussion about whether it was smarter to buy a specific High Tech company’s stock or beer. Have fun reading.
