Election Opinion: Nepean NDP Lady

Monday, January 9th, 2006

Anybody who shows up at my door, talks very politely to my 11 year old, and carries a dog biscuit for my dog, (the dog was barking and attempting to crotch her) is worth looking into. Her name is Laurel Gibbons and is the only candidate to appear on my doorstep (on a fairly cold day as well). Good on her, for being resourceful enough to be polite to kids and have a plan to deal with barking dogs.

Do I agree with her parties ideas? I try not to overtly endorse any candidate on line, I may imply I like certain policies of certain parties, but I attempt not to vomit my opinions on line (I may not succeed).

Will the incumbent show up on my doorstep? He sends me a lot of bulk e-mail, so who knows? Will the Liberal candidate arrive with some patronage for this former Quebecer? Anything is possible. Will the Green Party lady arrive discussing how my dog’s feces are ruining the environment? Hope not (she better bring a cookie for him). Who is my Rhinoceros party candidate? Sorry, don’t know. Does the Marijuana party have a candidate here? Not sure, but I’d love to chat with him or her. Natural Law party? Maybe they are still flying around, who knows.

I remember growing up in T.M.R. during the hey days of Pierre Trudeau being our own MP. The Rhinoceros party found a guy called Pierre Trudeau to run against him one time, and that fellow got more votes than the NDP candidate! I love political campaigns, it brings out the greatest absurdities.

Financially, well, wasn’t really that much on topic, but it was funny, and that is good enough for me.

Whatever you do, if you don’t Vote, you don’t get to complain! –C8j
