Non-profit sector a growth area?

Interesting. Our friendly grinches over at Stats Canada have come out with an interesting study of how the growth of Non-profit businesses (as compared to Canada’s GDP) has outstripped the economic growth overall of Canada.

“Non-profit organizations not only play an important role in the well-being of Canadians, they also constitute an economic force,” , was said.

Now I am not really surprised, given the number of non-profit organizations that I am part of and that I know of (Church, Basketball Teams, etc.,) and their budgets are not insignificant and the amount of money that goes through these organizations is not unsubstantially either.

GDP

And they constitute 7.1% of the economy? Wow, now that is a force. Remember you non-profit folks, you are an important engine in our economy! Something to think about this weekend. –C8j
