Children

As most of you know, I have children (and now grandchildren) and I often write about how they impact my financial life.

  1. Real World Example: Kids Allowances
Where I outline a system to ensure kids get their allowances on time. My kids were pretty mad at me until I implemented this system; as a bonus, I am still watching them (financially).
  2. Kippers
Not just a salted fish eaten for breakfast in the U.K.
  3. Hidden School Costs
Not just for universities are there hidden costs in education, public schools rake a lot of money off parents too.
  4. Advice to Future University Students
No, not money related, but still very useful.
  5. It’s OK to Live at Home with Your Parents
In a pig’s eye! I realize for a lot of kids, yes this may have to happen, in the short-term. Fight to move out, as soon as you can.
  6. Allowances: Long-Term Update Do you give your kids allowances? Is it an automated process? It isn’t hard to set up.
  7. Lifestyles with Boomerang Children Boomerang children are those kids that need to move back in with Mom & Dad after they have “moved out”, how does that work?
  8. Empty Nest, Really?!? Do you ever really have an empty nest? Kids come, go and then come back so much these days, the Family home rarely is that empty.
  9. Teaching Kids About Money I tripped across this very interesting report from our friends at PBS Newshour (seems to be the de facto news source these days) about Sesame Street and it’s new program to teach kids about money.
  10. Taboo Subjects With Kids It used to be that sex was “the talk” to have with kids but money seems to be the taboo subject with kids these days these days.

Just a few of the articles I have written about Kids and Money.

  1. I already have accounts for my kids but the idea of transferring money is great I never have enough cash to hand it over so the allowance idea always goes by the way side. I’m going to the bank to set that up.Thanks for that.
