Happy Year of the Rabbit

Just in case you didn’t keep your Financial New Year’s resolution(s) you now have another chance with another new year, thanks to our friends in China.  The Lunar year of the Rabbit begins today, so you can start again, with those money resolutions.

As you can tell, I do take advantage of as many points in a year as possible to start new good financial habits.

So what does the year of the Rabbit mean in terms of money? I did find the following quote about it:

MONEY AND THE RABBIT

Rabbit people are usually relatively careful when it comes to their finances. And that lucky rabbit foot didn’t just come out of nowhere…Rabbits are pretty lucky folks! They use much of their money for possessions such as their homes, cars or furniture. They would rather invest their money in gadgets and things than in the stock market. They love hunting for antiques, arts and crafts and will tend to make sound investments in these types of things.

Money and Year of Rabbit
No Not the Year of the Bugs!

I am not a rabbit, (I think I am a Rat, but I’ll leave that to my wife to confirm), but a Rabbit year is supposed to be a peaceful quiet year, which sounds like a good thing given the tumult we have had over the past few years.

The Chinese Zodiac readings I have found seems to imply a great deal of Luck being associated with folks born in the year of the Rabbit, and a great deal of luck for all of us in a Rabbit year as well.

Is this a good way to plan your finances (based on Chinese Zodiac)? In a word, NO, however it is fun to keep in mind, if you are making decisions and they work out.

I have always wondered why Rabbit’s feet are a sign of good luck, it wasn’t for the Rabbit that lost the foot, but that is for another time to discuss.

From the description above, it sounds like a year to buy gadgets and electronics, or invest in them, since all these Rabbit folks are going to want to go out and buy them? Yes I am being facetious.

Ottawa was lucky on Wednesday not getting as much snow as we were supposed to, so maybe the luck of the Rabbit is already starting? I suppose folks in Toronto might disagree given how much snow they got. I guess luck is in the eyes of the beholder.
