Groundhog Day, Farewell Penny, No Vine and Friday #Shoutouts

Tomorrow is Groundhog Day, so then we shall see how well a ground hog can prognosticate the weather (about as well as I can prognosticate financial stuff is my guess). The Groundhog him (or her)self usually seems quite irked by the whole thing, however, if it keeps them well feed, what does it matter? I enjoy seeing Groundhog Day the movie on TV as well (another guilty pleasure about this fine festival). Remember, “People like blood sausage too, people are morons.“, that is a deep concept.

The Canadian Penny will start disappearing (for real) on Monday, as they stop being created (which is good because they cost more than a penny to make), so soon will be unable to use the expressions, “A penny for your thoughts”, or “I need to spend a Penny”, or my favorite, “Knock, Knock, Knock: Penny?” (well maybe the last one will stay around). I remember as a youngster putting pennies on the train tracks and seeing perfect examples of pressure and it’s effects on metals (make them real flat!). I also remember buying Bazooka bubble gum for 1 cent, but gone are those days. Good bye penny, I wouldn’t get too comfortable Mr. Nickle, you are next!!!

I think I’ll be passing on the new Twitter thing Vine, for now. Can’t really figure out what it’s for, or how it helps getting my message out, but I am willing to hear from anyone what it can be used for in terms of personal finance thoughts.

All Debt is Bad

  1. A few kids at school had pennies an quarters flatted on the tracks, however I had this huge fear that my penny would cause the train to derail so I never did make one for myself. Man, the weird things I thought as a kid!
