Happy Year of the Sheep

in Humor

Yes to my Chinese friends (and those that use that Calendar) happy year of the (Wood) Sheep or Ram depending on how you look at it.

What does this year mean? Here is one interpretation:

According to international Feng Shui expert Marites Allen, the Green Sheep is also a symbol of good fortune. Thus this year will be a period of good fortune, peace and abundance. Luck will be favorable to most Chinese animal signs in the Year of the Wood Sheep.

Works for me, oh and here is my terrible joke once more, enjoy the celebrations!

See that picture of RAM reminded me of my first job at a computer store in ’99. Back then there was only 1 or 2 factories that made RAM and one of them had a fire. For a while 16megs of RAM was going for like $400.

Ahh, youth! BCM and I remember times when RAM was a bit more expensive. $1 / byte of memory was the norm when I started my university education. 4K of ram was $4k.

One of my professors was recalling his experiences when a “bit” of memory was $1. That was the era of core memory that was actually made with magnets.

We have to keep in perspective that today our wristwatches have more memory and processing power than mainframes of yesteryear.

I am definitely feeling my age….
