On the road and Car Rentals.

Friday, April 13th, 2007

Indeed, I am off for a weekend of fun with one of my daughters, so no posts likely and this one is going to be a short one.

I am saving some money, and giving myself a bit of peace of mind by renting a car to go the long distance we are planning, but I remembered that whenever my parents rented a car on vacation they typically rented a car they were thinking of buying, so the trip became an extended test drive. Following in this tradition, I am renting a Yaris, from Toyota to see whether the Big Cajun body can stand driving in it a long distance, and whether it is as miserly on gasoline as it claims. The other nice part is that I used my Aeroplan points, so the rental is free as well. A useful tip for those thinking of purchasing a car.

Gasoline remains at ludicrous levels here in Ottawa over $1.05 a liter, and now there is not even the courtesy of an excuse, we are now being told, “That is the way it is”, lovely! I think we are being gouged (again), I am curious to see the prices in Southern Ontario.
