Inflation at 1.2% in Canada January 2007

Inflation fell back to 1.2% in January, which is not too shabby, given the high prices of gas, heating, and electricity. In December, it was 1.6%, so it dropped, which is great news for the Consumer.

Lower gasoline prices seem to be helping keep inflation lower, even though housing and food prices are both fairly high these days. Inflation is highest in Alberta, but it is a classic example of an overheating economy.

Alcoholic beverages are going up in price, too, which doesn’t make me happy, but I guess since it’s Lent, it doesn’t matter right now.
