Are You Prepared?

Home Insurance and Wind

Over the past little while, that question just kept coming up in my life.

We had tremendous winds in our area of Ottawa and many houses were damaged by the high winds. Some houses were untouched, some lost roofing shingles and some had trees fall on the house, or were damaged by flying debris. This made me wonder what my house insurance might cover, so I went and found my policy. The whole “acts of God” portion makes me wonder what may, or may not be covered, but what else struck me was that my House Policy was coming due in two days, and I needed to pay it!

So I am still not clear about whether my tree fell on my house if it would be covered by my home insurance policy, however, I at least now have a Home Insurance policy for the next year. Yes, sometimes it is important to have things in your Electronic Calendar to remind you when you should pay for your major expenses over the year.

Patience is a Virtue

It took the American intelligence community 10 years, but they did finally get their foe. I think this is an important point to remember for those of us who get discouraged about our financial plans on lowering debt or building wealth, it all takes time, and sometimes that is all you can do, but wait. Opportunities may arise, but sometimes, it is going to take a long time to get the job done.

I have said it before, and I will repeat it, if it took you a long time to get into debt, it is going to take you a long time to get out of debt, so while you wish it might take less time, patience is the virtue to remember.

Elections Cause Hiring Booms

Over 200,000 new part time jobs were created for this election. I will comment about the election tomorrow, but even if the election ends up resolving nothing, a bunch of folks got a job for a short while (and if there is no majority government, we could be doing this again very soon).

Oh, and if I published anything too early about election results I could be fined a great deal of money, hence I will not comment until tomorrow as well.
