20 Loonie Years

I was amazed when I saw on the CBC that the Loonie turned 20 this year (on June 30th). I still remember the $1 bill, and the furor about how the world was going to come to an end because of this damnable coin! Now we have the Two-nie and pretty soon there will be a $5.00 coin because that is just the next logical step.

What would have happened if the original design of having Voyageurs on the back? What would it have been called? Makes you wonder.

  1. I still remember when the loonie replaced the dollar and I was not impressed (I was a kid at the time)… same thing happened with the twoonie. I really hope they don’t go over to the 5$ coin.

The change lasts longer but in reality they’ve just shifted the cost to the consumer who wears through pants because of all the change in their pockets rather than wallets.

    (ok rant over)
