RDSP : Working with the RDSP

Opening an RDSP (Registered Disability Savings Plan) is not an easy process. However, more importantly, is where you open your RDSP. Simply going to a Bank or such and saying, “I’d like to open an RDSP”, may open a Pandora’s Box of interesting issues.

  • You should open an account that gives you the most flexibility in terms of what you can invest in. Do not get forced into an account that only allows you to buy Bank Mutual Funds or High MER Fees Mutual Funds (or worse just a bank account).
  • Are there any associated fees with the account? There should be none.
