Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics

So Ted.com has another interesting video about Statistics, a fun part of my posts many times.

In a brilliantly tongue-in-cheek analysis, Sebastian Wernicke turns the tools of statistical analysis on TEDTalks, to come up with a metric for creating “the optimum TEDTalk” based on user ratings. How do you rate it? “Jaw-dropping”? “Unconvincing”? Or just plain “Funny”?

It’s always interesting to see people manipulate statistics to argue pretty much any point, and when they use it satirically, I appreciate it that much more. There is so little Mathematical Humor out there these days (although if you hang out with a bunch of Actuaries, you would have a good time).
